PC #27: E 70

A postcard from masterviajero. 🙂

On the back it says: ” The E 70 is one of 12 electric locomotives that operated through Deer Lodge, MT, serving the Milwaukee Road from 1950-1974. They ran through steep mountain passes in Montana and Idaho easily, pulling freight and passenger trains. Nicknames “Little Joes”, as a reference to Joseph Stalin, they were originally built for eventual use on the Trans-Siberian Railway. However the break down in East-West relations ended the possible sale to Russia and the Milwaukee bought them at bargain prices. Today the E 70 is cosmetically restored and on display in Deer Lodge for visitors to see and enjoy thanks to the efforts of numerous supporters.”
