Have a look on this beautiful postcard from Dolphin8 showing the Black Sea swarming with people during the Summer season (June – August). Our summer is from March to May. June to August, well, is sometimes devastating coz of rains and typhoons. But going back to the Black Sea, when I was young, I thought of the sea really being black. (And so I was amazed!) And I thought of the Red Sea as bloody red, the Yellow River as yellow. *ggg* Everything must be colorful!
Well, according to Wikipedia, the Black Sea came from the Ottoman Turks who used colors to denote the north, south, east, and west. Black is north in Medieval Turkish while red denotes the south.
