PC #514: A Christmas card from South Korea

Juhee sent this cute, glittery Christmas pop-up card in a nice red envelope. It was really thoughtful of her, and I love being her friend. I wasn’t expecting to receive a Christmas card from Korea, so this was a nice surprise. šŸ™‚

PC #440: Illustration cards from S. Korea

Here are some illustration cards from my friend, Juhee. šŸ™‚ The first one is of the novel Daddy Long Legs, a young adult novel written by American writer Jean Webster in 1912. The story is about an orphanĀ  girl named Judy Abbott, who was lucky enough to have a benefactor in college! In return, she will have to write a monthly letter to John Smith (the benefactor). Judy never spoke nor met her benefactor all throughout her college days. There was one close instance, though, but Judy was only able to see the shadow of John Smith. Hence, she referred to her benefactor as Daddy Long Legs!

Oha, I know her story. Why, she’s part of my childhood, along with the Little Women, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Heidi, Anne of Green Gables, and many others. I just love classic literature ā™„

Daddy Long Legs!

Juhee is so cute! She said my cards are so “girlish and lovely”. Hahaha, I just love putting stickers and using colorful pens. Hmm. I also like the second card, a personalized one. Juhee wrote: ė©”ģ“ė”œģ¦ˆ ė‚“ ģ¹œźµ¬ģ•¼ ģž˜ ģ§€ė‚“ė‹ˆ ? (Maerose, how are you my friend?) *sweetness*

And the third card is awwww… way too cute!

My pen friends really make most of my days! Thank God for cute friends like Juhee ā™„

PC #397: Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream – S.Korea

Awesome view of this Fountain of Dream, the world’s largest water fountain! It is also a music fountain, and shoots water about 55m above the ground. Pretty much like a musical firework display, but this time, it’s water. Here’s Korea’s Official Tourism page: Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dream.

Beautiful stamps include the S. Korean flag, the Nycticorax nycticorax bird, and two lovely swans. Thanks to Juhee ā™„

PC #374: Changdeokgung Huijeongdang(house) – South Korea

A nice view of a traditional house/compound in South Korea. Well, the picture on the card is just a small part of the whole Changdeokgung, according to my friend Juhee. To be more exact, there’s a nice caption at the back of the card that says, Huijeongdang is a side room of royal palace with bedroom. Later it was used as a council in the Royal presence. In 1917, there was a big fire, so the building was moved from Gangneungjeon of Gyeonbok palace in 1920.

Huijeongdang

Nice stamps used. Thanks to Juhee ā™„

And oh, the Changdeokgung Palace Compound was declared a UNESCO cultural site in 1997. XD

PC #337: Seoul – Korea

A wonderful illustrated map card of the “Soul of Asia”! Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, is the second largest metropolitan area in the world with a population of over 10 million! Tokyo, Japan takes the number two spot, while Metro Manila is eleventh. See the top 20 here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_areas_by_population

Lol. But this post is about Seoul. What I love about the card is that it shows the popular attractions in the city, like the Gyeongbok Palace, Seoul N Tower, National Museum, Floating Island, Nanta Theatre, etc. South Korea in particular, is a place of interest for me. I have studied basic Hangeul about two years ago and was addicted to Korean dramas! So glad I have Juhee for a postcard friend. I get to know Korea more!! (‘course I also have Jo-uk! kk)

Seoul

Thanks, Juhee!! šŸ˜‰

PC #327: ‘Mischievous My Friend’ from S. Korea

Yay! A super cute card from Juhee! When I Google translate this phrase: ź°œźµ¬ ģŸģ“!! ė‚“ģ¹œźµ¬, I got ‘Frog Freak! My friend’ Lol. But Juhee wrote the phrase is best translated as ‘Mischievous My Friend’, and I trust her more. šŸ™‚

The card reminds me that every once in a while, we should reminisce the times when we were young and innocent. Yes, innocent. Well, we should continue to be young at heart, all the time! I encounter lots of mischievous kids in school, and they’re annoying most of the time. BUT being playful is part of the stages of life and it won’t hurt if sometimes we get a little naughty, just to add some spice in the things that we do. *ggg* Yes, teacher says be naughty sometimes. ź°ģ‚¬ķ•©ė‹ˆė‹¤, Juhee!! ā™„
